Why Do Baseball Shirts Have 3/4 Sleeves?
We'll give you a quick history lesson. The 3/4 Sleeve baseball shirt is also known as the "raglan". The name "raglan" came from the British Army Officer, Lord Raglan, who became famous in the 1800s. He often wore what would become known as the "raglan" shirt. The 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt, or "raglan", is known to give more freedom of movement due to there being more underarm area in the shirt. Because of the extra underarm area, it became a very popular t-shirt style for baseball players. As well, it can go without mentioning that the 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt leaves the wrist areas free (excellent for glove and throwing hands). As well, it covers the bulk of the arm which is great for early spring baseball games!
