If you play it, they will come. On August 12, 2021, the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees will be taking the field to play the first-ever Major League Baseball game in Iowa. Located in Dyersville, Iowa the MLB created an 8,000 seat stadium adjacent to the iconic Field Of Dreams movie site. The MLB has given some sneak peeks of what the stadium looks like, but they’re keeping it under wraps until they fully unveil it on game day.
The game might be an offensive battle with the field dimensions looking like it will be a hitters ballpark. The deepest part of the park is 400 feet to dead center and only 335 feet down the lines. If you want to hit a homer in the alleys you’ll need to pimp one 380 feet.
One of the most iconic scenes from the “Field Of Dreams” movie is when the players appear from the cornfield as they walk out to the diamond. This is going to be re-created before the game and will leave us some chills. In the right-field fence, there is a 16-foot removable panel where the two teams will walk in from. Also, on the right-field fence is a special 7-foot-high green chain link fence with support posts that are actually in the corn. And if you were wondering, the entire field is surrounded by 159 acres of corn!
