“EVERY SEASON REQUIRES A NEW YOU. IT’S TIME TO REINVENT YOURSELF FOR SUCCESS, IT'S TIME FOR A NEW ROUTINE! THE SECRET TO YOUR FUTURE IS HIDDEN IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE. NEXT SEASON OF STYLE STARTS RIGHT NOW!”
My favorite thing about basics is how you can take something minimal and turn it into something edgy and unique with creativity and a few accessories. I love cute clothes off the rack, but my favorite part about putting together a cute outfit is the mix-matching of colors, fabrics, patterns, and styles to create a look that is all my own. I have always had a knack for creating my own specific style, so here is a small glimpse into how I go about creating those looks.
When turning basics upscale and making the pieces more fashion-forward, I first say to myself: If I saw someone wearing what I’m wearing, would I immediately say, ‘I have to have that.’ The rest is easy!
When trying to create a cute outfit from some basics, I first match the top/shirt with another piece of clothing that will turn up the flare a little bit and add some spunk. I never focus on being too matchy-matchy, just fancy-fancy... Whether it is a color pop, some layers, or only a cool pattern, mixing it up with the basic piece will immediately elevate the appeal and make it look like it was MADE for that outfit. I like to think about transformative wear. What can I add to this outfit that will turn a day outfit into a night outfit without skipping a beat? Whether it’s a cute jacket, some accessories, or just a change to the style of the basic, elevate your game by just changing/adding one or two things that pop in the outfit to really change the game.
Don’t ever doubt the power of some leather, a cute hat and a lot of confidence, girl! It’s not always what you wear but how you wear it. Remember that you look good in whatever you create and strut your stuff.
